"Dozens of Argentine fans had an opportunity to experience a historic moment in the country's footballing journey on Friday as the FIFA World Cup was displayed at a public exhibition in Buenos Aires, giving supporters a chance to relive the glory up close. Footage shows fans taking photos with the World Cup at the La Rural exhibition centre, where they explored the immersive experiences recounting the famous triumph. Visitors moved through the venue as footage of Lionel Messi's iconic speech from the 2022 Qatar World Cup played, along with scenes from the Obelisk, where thousands of fans gathered to celebrate the win. "When I saw the cup, [I felt] a storm of emotions. It's like feeling what few things make you feel. I don't want to compare it to the birth of my children, but it's something that Diego [Maradona] touched, Leo [Messi] touched, Kempes [world champion in the 1978 World Cup] touched. Incredible, incredible!," said an Argentine fan. "When I saw the cup I felt something exciting, something unmatched. The first time we see it like this [up close]," said another supporter, who witnessed all three of Argentina's World Cup triumphs. The original trophy, made of solid 18-carat gold and weighing six kilos, was unveiled on Thursday by 1986 champion Óscar Ruggeri, accompanied by teammates and 1978 champion Ubaldo Fillol. Before arriving in Argentina, the cup toured Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, and Ecuador. The Latin American tour will continue in Uruguay on February 22, Brazil from February 23 to 26, and Mexico from February 27 to March 22, returning from June 5 to 8. The worldwide tour, supported by FIFA, will visit 30 countries in 150 days before the inauguration of the 2026 World Cup in June."
