Galloping into light! - Taipei's glamorous lantern festival ignites Horse Lunar Year with radiant displays

"Taipei's annual lantern festival opened on Friday at New Taipei Metropolitan Park, drawing hundreds of visitors with a galloping light display marking the Lunar Year of the Horse. Footage shows tourists immersed in the lively atmosphere, taking pictures among dozens of horse-themed lanterns, while other radiant installations depicted Chinese heritage and culture during its festive season. "The main reason for coming is because it’s the Year of the Horse. There are definitely a lot of horse-related lanterns on display, and they’re actually quite unique," one visitor expressed. "I think it’s really beautiful. This year is quite lovely. I usually come here to take a look every year," another added. This year's centrepiece is the 15-metre-tall 'Red Ruby Horse' lantern, which stages a 360-degree kinetic light show every half hour. The event also features 16 themed zones and an international food market with more than 170 stalls for visitors to explore, according to local media. Since its inception in 2017, the lantern festival has become a cherished festive-season tradition in Taipei. This year's edition runs from 20 February to 8 March."
