Manila announces road closures for PH Marathon

THE City of Manila government on Saturday announced road closures for the upcoming Philippine Marathon on Feb. 22. In a Facebook post, the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) urged motorists to be familiar with the road closures ahead of the event. Starting at 11 p.m. on Saturday, major thoroughfares will be closed. These include the following: 1. Southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from P. Ocampo Street to Katigbak Drive; 2. Northbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Pres. Quirino Avenue to Katigbak Drive; 3. Bonifacio Drive from Anda Circle to Katigbak Drive; 4. P. Burgos Avenue from Roxas Boulevard to Jones Bridge; 5. Finance Road from P. Burgos Avenue to Taft Avenue; 6. Ma. Orosa Street from P. Burgos Avenue to Kalaw Avenue; 7. Muralla Street from Sta. Lucia Street to A. Soriano Avenue; 8. Sta. Lucia Street from Muralla Street to A. Soriano Avenue; 9. Eastbound lane of A. Soriano Avenue from Muralla-Solana Streets to Anda Circle; 10. Jones Bridge; 11. Magallanes Drive fronting Post Office from MacArthur Bridge (southbound) to Jones Bridge (northbound); 12. Magallanes Drive fronting the Bureau of Immigration; 13. Westbound lane of T. M. Kalaw Avenue from M. H. Del Pilar Street to Roxas Boulevard; 14. Westbound lane of Pres. Quirino Avenue to Adriatico Street to Roxas Boulevard. The Manila PIO added that rerouting measures will be implemented. For vehicles coming from MacArthur and Quezon bridges heading to the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard, they must take P. Burgos Avenue and proceed to Taft Avenue; motorists on the westbound lane of Kalaw Avenue bound for Roxas Boulevard southbound must turn left onto M.H. Del Pilar Street; vehicles from Ma. Orosa and A. Mabini Street must turn right onto Kalaw Avenue and continue to Taft Avenue; and vehicles from U.N. Avenue intending to use Roxas Boulevard must turn left or right onto the Roxas Boulevard service road. Meanwhile, those coming from Bonifacio Drive must turn around at Anda Circle, while those from the southbound lane of the Binondo–Intramuros Bridge must take the westbound lane of A. Soriano Avenue. Motorists from Plaza Cervantes heading to Jones Bridge must use the underpass to Escolta Street or pass through San Vicente Street toward MacArthur Bridge. Trailer trucks and heavy vehicles from Pasay City using Roxas Boulevard northbound must turn right onto Pres. Quirino Avenue, while light vehicles may use the Roxas Boulevard service road. Vehicles from the westbound lane of Quirino Avenue must turn left onto Adriatico Street, while trailer trucks and heavy vehicles from Mel Lopez Boulevard (R-10) heading to Roxas Boulevard must turn left onto Capulong Street, proceed to Yuseco Street and continue to Lacson Avenue via the old truck route. The Manila PIO implored motorists to plan their trips and take alternative routes to avoid inconvenience during the marathon.
