US wants to make peace… but the EU decided differently! - Orban blasts Brussels over Ukraine funding at Bekeszaba anti-war rally

"Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban during an anti‑war rally in Bekescsaba on Saturday, accused European leaders of militant tendency to prolong conflict in Ukraine instead of backing peace efforts. "The Americans want to make peace," he said. "But the Europeans decided differently. They say that the Americans misunderstand the situation and that this war must continue." Saying the EU leaders 'want the war to continue' Orban discoursed upon the reasons of such a tendency, alleging the conflict extension is seen as an income source for Kiev. "The Ukrainians think that continuing the war is not just about winning the war; it is a matter of life and death, but also because of their economy. Because if there is no war, who will give them money? Ukraine will receive money as long as there is war," Hungarian Prime Minister concluded. This comes just days after Orban visited the United States, where he took part in President Donald Trump's Peace Council and aligned himself with US‑led peace efforts. Hungary has repeatedly blocked EU financial packages for Kiev, most recently objecting to a 90 billion euro emergency EU loan for Ukraine. Budapest has similarly accused the EU and Ukraine of attempting to meddle ahead of the vote, which Kiev denies. A US House Committee report this month claimed the bloc had interfered in eight different elections in the EU, which Brussels called 'pure nonsense'. Parliamentary elections are scheduled for April 12, 2026. Hungary continues to rely heavily on energy imports from Russia despite Western efforts to reduce dependence on Moscow following the war's outbreak in Ukraine."
