"Acting President of Venezuela Delcy Rodriguez met with Minister of Mines and Energy of Colombia Edwin Palma, reaffirming the commitment to work jointly for regional energy security. The meeting took place at Miraflores Palace, in Caracas, on Friday, as part of the energy agenda between the two countries. During the meeting, concrete actions were advanced on gas, clean energy generation, water, and energy infrastructure. Minister Palma noted the dialogue helps fostering greater productive development between the two nations, as they allow for the construction of long-term technical and sustainable solutions. In turn, Rodriguez stated on her Telegram channel that during the meeting new opportunities for cooperation were analysed for the benefit of both peoples and regional development. This is the first visit by a Colombian government official to Venezuela since Delcy Rodriguez assumed office as acting president, following the arrest of the constitutional president Nicolas Maduro in early January. In previous days, Delcy Rodriguez spoke with Colombian President Gustavo Petro and agreed to hold a binational meeting at the level of heads of state, with the aim of advancing key issues on the economic, energy, and security agenda. However, there is no confirmed date at this time. The talks between Venezuela and Colombia on energy matters are taking place after the government of Gustavo Petro temporarily suspended electricity transactions with Ecuador, which has generated daily additional costs in that country of close to two million dollars."
