'No to fascism!' – Hundreds protest at rally against remigration movement in Lugano

"Around 400 people took to the streets of Lugano on Saturday, defying a city ban to protest what they described as a growing nationalist presence, after activists had called for a controversial rally promoting 'remigration' that was ultimately prohibited by authorities. The 'anti-fascist' march began in Piazza Manzoni and moved through the city centre, with demonstrators holding banners reading 'No to fascism' and 'No space for hatred and racism.' Palestinian flags and placards reading 'Palestine is the soul of humanity' were also visible throughout the crowd. “To the fascists who wanted to demonstrate in this city, it must be said clearly: fascism and fascists have no right to citizenship here,” one demonstrator said. Several speakers also referenced the humanitarian situation in Gaza. One demonstrator stated: “Meanwhile, in the Gaza Strip, sick people are slowly dying… In Jerusalem, there is a clinic equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, ready to receive these children. Unfortunately, Netanyahu does not allow them to go — and they are just one hour away by ambulance.” Switzerland has seen intermittent demonstrations in recent months related to both nationalist groups and opposition to global conflicts."
