"Passengers were left stranded at bus stations in Mexico on Sunday after several companies suspended routes to the west amid a wave of violence triggered by the killing of 'El Mencho', leader of Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG). Footage from the Central de Autobuses del Norte shows passengers queueing at the information desk with their luggage, waiting for updates on delayed and cancelled departures. The cancellations and delays primarily affected travellers heading to Jalisco, Guanajuato, Michoacan and Aguascalientes, as vehicle burnings and highway blockades were reported in at least a dozen states. "Crime is hitting hard and above all, the bus line agencies do not allow us or do not sell us tickets to our destination," said Jorge, a traveller trying to reach his family in Michoacan, Buenavista. Jorge said no buses were running to his destination, potentially leaving him stranded at the terminal overnight. "My wife and my daughter are waiting for me, and they tell me the roads near my hometown are closed and supposedly they are burning vehicles. I don't really know, I don't have more information about that," Jorge said. "We are worried, she [my wife] about me being here and me about her being there, right? Because the situation is serious and hopefully it improves and everything on the roads is brought under control," he continued. Bus operators have not indicated when services will resume, saying decisions will depend on security assessments and official confirmation that highways are safe. Authorities reported road blockades and torched vehicles in at least 10 states on Sunday, including Jalisco, Nayarit, Michoacan and Tamaulipas, following the announcement of a federal operation that killed 'El Mencho'. The raid that killed 'El Mencho' - identified as Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes - was carried out in Tlapapa, Jalisco, on Sunday. The operation reportedly left seven suspected members of the group dead and three soldiers wounded."
