Panic at the airport - Guadalajara flights halted as cartel reacts to drug trafficker 'El Mencho' death

"Panic ensued among travellers in Jalisco's Guadalajara International Airport on Sunday after news broke of the death of Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion's (CJNG) former leader, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as 'El Mencho', after a military operation. Footage shows people running inside the airport facilities, as well as several passengers lying on the floor seeking cover after emergency alarms were activated. In a statement, airport authorities said that no incidents had been recorded inside the facilities so far, referring to recent events as "psychosis among passengers." They also reported that flights are operating normally without disruptions, despite multiple incidents recorded in various areas of Jalisco. Officials also urged travellers to remain calm and follow the instructions of airport staff. Jalisco is the operational epicenter of the CJNG, founded by 'El Mencho' in the state. The state also serves as the criminal group's main stronghold, along with Nayarit and Colima, where it maintains dominant control over drug trafficking routes and other illegal activities."
