Business Today's Group Editor, Siddharth Zarabi in exclusive conversation with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva endorsed India’s approach to artificial intelligence, calling it the “right way” for a country like India. She highlighted India’s investment in digital public infrastructure, including digital ID for 1.4 billion people, as a strong foundation for democratizing AI. Rather than copying high-tech corporate models, India is building sector-specific AI applications for healthcare, education, and public services. Georgieva said this approach could be more relevant for the developing world. However, she stressed the urgent need for global guardrails to ensure AI protects human dignity and rights. With AI potentially lifting global growth by 0.8%, she urged nations to collaborate responsibly in an increasingly fragmented world.
