"Hundreds of people displaced by war joined a huge iftar table organised by the Human Appeal charity in the Al-Nasr area of Al-Rimal neighborhood in northern Gaza City. Footage from Sunday shows locals and their children gathered for the meal to break their daily Ramadan fast, with the ruins of war and tents around. "This iftar is being organized with the aim of easing the burden on families inside the Gaza Strip. Through this iftar, we seek to promote social solidarity and provide meals that are not available inside the tents, such as rice and meat dishes, in addition to sweets, water, and dates," said Abdulrahman Aqilan, media officer at the charity. One local woman, Um Ahmed Zahir, said: "There are people unable to buy food and drinks. Even now, we still suffer from high prices, and people cannot afford to buy." Activist Shahd Al-Shurafa called the event “an effort to create an atmosphere of joy and optimism despite all the disaster we are living through in this street.” Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is considered one of the holiest months for Muslims. During this month, fasting is observed from dawn until sunset - one of the pillars of Islam."
