MMDA inspects C3 Road for new traffic scheme

THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) inspected the first day of its new traffic management scheme on C3 Road in Quezon City on Monday to monitor the impact of a newly relocated U-turn slot. The agency moved the northbound U-turn slot closer to the Skyway off-ramp at 10 a.m. as part of a two-week dry run aimed at easing the persistent traffic bottleneck at the C3-Quezon Avenue Intersection. Under the trial configuration, the new U-turn slot is reserved exclusively for vehicles exiting the Skyway, and motorists on the Service Road must now proceed to the Maria Clara U-turn slot. To further reduce congestion at the main junction, vehicles coming from España Rotonda must turn right onto Araneta Avenue and take the U-turn at Kaliraya to reach their destinations. Skyway management has supported the dry run by installing overhead signage at Exit 1 (Quezon Avenue) and Exit 2 (Maria Clara) to ensure motorists are in the correct lane before reaching the affected area. The MMDA, in coordination with the Quezon City government, will evaluate the results of the two-week experiment to determine if the rerouting will become a permanent fixture in the city's traffic plan.
