HBO Max will debut in the UK in March 2025 . The second season of the show will also be available on this service. HBO Max A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 plot The new Game of Thrones prequel is based on Tales of Dunk and Egg , a series of novellas by George R.R. Martin. They cover the travels and adventures of the knight Ser Duncan the Tall (known as Dunk) and his young squire, Egg. The events occur around 70 years after the House of the Dragon and 90 years before Game of Thrones. There are three novellas so far, and the sophomore season will focus on the second, titled The Sworn Sword . It’s set two years after the tournament in Ashford, so viewers should be prepared for a small time jump. Season 2 will find Ser Duncan and Egg in The Reach, south of Westeros, the land known as the home of chivalry, where knighthood is much admired. By this point, Dunk is a sworn knight of Ser Eustace Osgrey of Standfast, who is in conflict with Lady Rohanne Webber of Coldmoat over water rights during a terrible drought. HBO Max The story also includes flashbacks to the rebellion of Daemon Blackfyre, known as the Black Dragon, which occurred several years before the events of the Tales of Dunk and Egg. As showrunner Ira Parker told IGN : Season 1 really is about fathers and sons and what’s passed on to the next generation. [Season 2 will capture themes of] loyalty and maybe against blind loyalty. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 cast and crew In the second season, Ira Parker will return as the showrunner, executive producer and writer. Other executive producers of the show are George R.R. Martin, Ryan Condal (House of the Dragon’s showrunner), Sarah Bradshaw, Owen Harris, and Vince Gerardis. Season will again feature Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall, while Egg will be played a second time by Dexter Sol Ansell (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes). HBO Max The following characters will appear in the series (although we don’t know who plays them yet): Ser Eustace Osgrey of Standfast – the head of House Osgrey, a proud and stubborn older man who’s attached to the past glory of his family. Lady Rohanne Webber of Coldmoat (‘The Red Widow’) – the head of House Webber. She’s a fierce woman with signature red hair, suspected by many of practising black arts and murder, due to the unfortunate deaths of her brothers, husbands and children. She’s a skilled archer. Ser Lucas Inchfield (‘The Longinch’) – the castellan of Coldmoat for Lady Rohanne. He’s proud and cruel, despising hedge knights. Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield – a hedge knight (in)famous for his repulsive appearance, nasty smell and terrible personality. He wears brown clothes and an unpainted wooden shield without a sigil. In Sworn Sword, Bennis serves Ser Eustace Osgrey. Aemon Targaryen – the third son of Maekar Targaryen and Egg’s older brother. He’s learning at the Citadel, and later becomes a maester to the Night’s Watch at Castle Black. HBO Max Daemon I Blackfyre (‘Black Dragon’) – the bastard son of King Aegon IV Targaryen and Princess Daena Targaryen. He founded House Blackfyre, named after his Valyrian steel sword, leading to the outbreak of the so-called First Blackfyre Rebellion. Tall, muscular and charismatic, he’s considered a great warrior. According to rumours, Henry Cavill is to play Blackfyre. Dexter Sol Ansell mentioned in an interview that the actor may appear in the series, but neither HBO nor Cavill has confirmed it. Aegor Rivers (‘Bittersteel’) – the bastard son of King Aegon IV Targaryen by his mistress, Lady Barba Bracken. He was a strong supporter of Daemon Blackfyre and a founder of the Golden Company, the famous group of sellswords. Brynden Rivers (‘Lord Bloodraven’) – the bastard son of King Aegon IV Targaryen and his mistress, Lady Melissa Blackwood. During the Blackfyre Rebellion, he stood by the Targaryens, later becoming Hand of the King. HBO Max It’s possible that the following will also return in the second season: Danny Webb as Ser Arlan of Pennytree – Dunk’s mentor may again appear in flashbacks. Shaun Thomas as Raymun Fossoway – We’re dying to meet the kind-hearted knight again and find out how his marriage to Rowan is going. Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon – The Laughing Storm was one of the series’ best characters and a good friend to Dunk, so we hope that fate will reunite them in season 2. Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen – As it turned out, Egg ended up becoming Duncan’s squire without his father’s consent. We don’t know whether Maekar managed to meet his son in the two years since the events at the Ashford tournament. If not, this meeting may occur in the second season. Oscar Morgan as Prince Valarr Targaryen and Henry Ashton as Prince Daeron “The Drunken” Targaryen – if Maekar appears in season two, perhaps he will be accompanied by the young Targaryens who didn’t get much screen time in season one. HBO Max Sadly, in the second season, we will not see fan-favourite Baelor Targaryen played by Bertie Carvel . He died tragically during the trial by combat, hit in the head by Maekor’s mace. We can’t count on the return of Aerion Targaryen, portrayed by Finn Bennett either… at least for now. In the season 1 finale, Maekar informed Dunk that he was sending his troublesome son to the Free Cities of Essos, hoping for him to grow up and calm down. Will there be A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 3? Yes. Most likely, it will premiere in 2028, as the plan for the series is to release one season per year . The only problem is that George R. R. Martin has written only three novellas about Dunk and Egg so far. It’s hard to imagine the show ending after the third season but HBO’s plans are shrouded in mystery. HBO Max What are the other Game of Thrones prequels? The first Game of Thrones prequel is House of the Dragon – the third season will premiere this spring. In addition to The Hedge Knight, HBO wants to create a series about the so-called Aegon Conquest, which took place 300 years before Game of Thrones. The show will cover the arrival to Westeros of Aegon Targaryen, his sister wives Rhaenys and Visenya, and their dragons. Lord Corlys Velaryon, one of the key characters of the House of the Dragon, will also get his own series, titled Nine Voyages , following his risky travels to the world’s most mysterious places. Another prequel, titled 10,000 Ships , will cover the adventures of Princess Nymeria, who lived 1,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones. After the Valyrian conquest of her kingdom, Nymeria gathered a great fleet and sailed across the sea to Dorne, where she married a lord of House Martell. HBO is also planning an animation set in Yi Ti , a jungle-covered country in Essos, which, according to George R.R. Martin, is the fantasy equivalent of medieval China. The fate of the Jon Snow spin-off is still unclear. In 2022, Kit Harrington mentioned that he and HBO were considering a series about Jon’s adventures beyond the Wall. However, the idea was later shelved, and there is no information about it yet.
