A North Carolina mother who disappeared 24 years ago while heading out for Christmas shopping has been found “alive and well,” officials confirmed. Michele Hundley Smith, who vanished in December 2001 at age 38, was located after investigators “received new information” through a nationwide law enforcement network. Authorities made contact with her in North Carolina, but her exact whereabouts remain undisclosed at her request.
