"Russia has delivered about 60 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Madagascar to support victims of Fitiya and Gezani cyclones, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Monday. Footage shows the aircraft taxiing down a runway, with volunteers unloading boxes with food. "The humanitarian aid includes 30 tonnes of rice, 16 tonnes of beans and 13 tonnes of sunflower oil. This aimed to support affected families and assist ongoing humanitarian efforts," the statement published by the Russian Embassy in Madagascar read. On February 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his support amid the deadly natural disaster in the republic during his meeting with the President Michael Randrianirina in Moscow. Putin emphasised that Russia was making all necessary efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the country. In early February, Madagascar was hit by a powerful cyclone Fitiya. Later, tropical cyclone Gezani reached the island nation, affecting over 423,000 people as of February 16."
