"Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called for unity among the Global South at the end of his state visit to India on Monday, urging states to work toward changing the 'economic logic of the world.'  "I have already been invited, three BRICS members to take part in the G7. Now we will begin to understand that we do not need to fight. We do not need G7, G4, G20. We will move forward so that we can build a single bloc," he emphasised. The president stressed that Global South unity could help achieve a more balanced global economy and 'fairer' world trade, particularly when it comes to negotiations with economic powers. "Brazil was willing to set an example to the world by strengthening multilateralism, especially after Trump announced unilateral tariffs. We have to set the example that, together, we can have more strength to win this battle," Lula asserted. "Countries like India, Brazil, Australia and other countries of the Global South can come together because, in direct negotiations with a superpower, the tendency is for us to come out losing. And since we have the same problems and the same interests, we have to stick together," he urged. Lula praised BRICS for providing historically marginalised nations with a collective 'political identity,' emphasising the group's aim to challenge the existing global hegemony, deepen cooperation and promote fairer trade - while avoiding the creation of a new 'Cold War' with the United States."
