Government agencies back push for simplified tax rate on vapes

MANILA, Philippines – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Bureau of Customs (BOC), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) confirmed the need for a unified vape tax rate to address major gaps in technical evaluation, enforcement, and potential revenue loss. The current two-tiered tax structure, which distinguishes between salt nicotine and freebase nicotine, has reportedly led to widespread misdeclaration.
