"Serbian law enforcement agencies have arrested two men in Kraljevo on suspicion of plotting an assassination attempt against President Aleksandar Vucic, as well as planning attacks on his wife, children and employees of the Interior Ministry. Footage released on Monday shows police officers detaining the suspects and placing them in a police van before escorting them into a building under heavy security presence. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, officers in Kraljevo acted in coordination with the Security and Information Agency (BIA) to detain two local residents identified as DR (born 1975) and MR (born 1983). Authorities allege that between December 2025 and February 2026, the suspects conspired to carry out crimes against the constitutional order and security of Serbia, including planning a violent change of power and the overthrow of the country’s highest state authorities. Investigators claim the pair agreed to procure weapons and prepare attacks targeting President Vucic, his immediate family members and Interior Ministry officials, whom they allegedly intended to physically harm. The suspects have been placed in custody for 48 hours. Upon the expiration of the detention period, they are expected to be brought before the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kraljevo for further legal proceedings. The case comes amid heightened political tensions in Serbia, with authorities vowing to respond firmly to any threats against state institutions and elected officials."
