"A soup kitchen in Aida refugee camp, in the Bethlehem governorate of the southern West Bank, has resumed serving meals during Ramadan, with food delivered directly to families’ homes.   Footage filmed on Monday shows organisers and volunteers preparing meals before dispatching delivery teams through the streets of Bethlehem.   Abdul Fattah Abu Srour, director of Al-Ruwad Association for Culture and Arts, said the kitchen was established during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since provided hot meals including rice with meat, soup, date-based desserts and other available items.   “The kitchen prepares between 500 and 800 meals a day, distributed across the Bethlehem governorate to Muslims and Christians in need,” he said.   Ibrahim Srour, head of the administrative board, stressed that meals are delivered without photographing recipients and that beneficiaries’ names remain confidential to protect their privacy and dignity.   The initiative has become a lifeline for many vulnerable families, particularly amid worsening economic conditions in the West Bank. Abu Srour said both UNRWA and the Palestinian Authority are struggling to pay full salaries to employees amid a financial crisis.   In mid-February, Palestinian Finance Minister Istifan Salameh said Israel withholds around 70 percent of the Palestinian Authority’s total revenues, warning that 2026 could be the most difficult year yet. He noted that the Authority was only able to pay 60 percent of civil and military employees’ salaries ahead of Ramadan.   Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is one of the holiest months in Islam.
