Pakistan slams terrorist attacks originating from Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned a series of deadly terrorist attacks originating from Afghanistan, describing them as an open act of aggression against the state and a direct challenge to the country’s sovereignty, while calling for national unity and collective resolve to counter the threat. The recent incidents include an attack on a Frontier Constabulary convoy in Bannu, the brutal burning of injured personnel, the martyrdom of DSP Asad Mahmood in Shakardarra, Kohat, and a suicide bombing in Bhakkar. Officials and security sources said the pattern of attacks points to organized, cross-border terrorism aimed at destabilising Pakistan. The attacks, carried out during the holy month of Ramadan, were strongly condemned as being against the teachings of Islam and Pashtun traditions. Observers noted that the deliberate targeting of civilians and security personnel underscores that the perpetrators have no regard for human life and are driven by violent, self-serving ideologies. Pakistan has repeatedly demanded that the Afghan Taliban regime prevent the use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan. However, officials say the continued failure to act amounts to open hostility, posing a serious threat to Pakistan’s security, territorial integrity and sovereignty. The government and security leadership have vowed to respond to what they termed a “declared war” with full national resolve and unity. Pakistan’s security forces, with the backing of the public, remain united and determined to eliminate all elements threatening national security. Calling for unity beyond political affiliations, the statement stressed that terrorism allegedly backed from Afghanistan and India must be confronted collectively. National security, dignity and the protection of citizens’ lives and property were described as priorities that transcend political and personal interests. Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies continue to make immense sacrifices in defending the country’s internal and external borders. These sacrifices, officials said, reflect the strong bond between the nation and its defenders. The statement concluded that Pakistan, through unity, resolve and national honour, will defeat terrorism and those acting at the behest of external actors. “With the will of Allah, the nation and its security institutions will prevail,” it added.
