MANILA, Philippines — Crowds have started to gather at the EDSA People Power Monument to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1986 People Power Revolution. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said around 500 rallyists marched from the EDSA Shrine to the EDSA People Power Monument on Wednesday morning. Personnel from the Philippine National Police and the MMDA were deployed to secure the area and manage the flow of vehicles. Motorists were advised to expect delays and to take alternate routes when possible. The MMDA told The Manila Times that more than 800 traffic enforcers have been deployed to assist in traffic management in affected areas.
