Industry minister calls for deeper cooperation in nuclear energy in meeting with Turkish counterpart

Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan on Wednesday discussed progress in the ongoing nuclear power cooperation between Korea and Turkey with visiting Turkish energy minister, Kim's office said. Kim met with Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar in Seoul to discuss ways to expand trade and industrial cooperation between the two countries, as a follow-up measure to their leaders' bilateral summit held in November, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources said. Korea's state-run Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) and Turkiye Nuclear Energy Company had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the sidelines of the 2025 summit, agreeing to expand their cooperation in the nuclear energy sector, with KEPCO seeking to take part in Turkey's plan to build its second nuclear power plant in Sinop.
