Security forces killed 34 India-backed terrorists in a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan over the past few days, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 26 terrorists were killed in four separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on February 24, while eight others were neutralised during an operation in Sambaza area of Zhob district, Balochistan. The ISPR said security forces detected the movement of a group of terrorists attempting to infiltrate through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the general area of Hassan Khel, North Waziristan district. Troops engaged the group, killing one terrorist who, according to the statement, was identified as an Afghan national. In a separate intelligence-based operation in Lakki Marwat district, three terrorists were killed following an exchange of fire. Security forces also conducted two operations in the Narmi Khel area of Bannu district, where 10 terrorists were neutralised. In another engagement in Mir Ali, North Waziristan district, 12 militants were killed, the statement added. During the fifth engagement in Sambaza, Zhob district, eight terrorists were killed after an intense fire exchange. The military said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorists, who were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the respective areas. The ISPR said sanitisation operations were ongoing to eliminate any remaining terrorists and reiterated that security forces, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, would continue counter-terrorism operations under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam” to eradicate militancy from the country.
