Tanzanian-American in a $4.7 gold, diamond scam nabbed in Pasay

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation’s Fraud and Financial Crimes Division (NBI-FFCD) arrested in Pasay City a Tanzanian-American national for allegedly being involved in a transnational gold and diamond investment scam that swindled an American national of more than US$4.7 million (P270.6 million). In a statement on Wednesday, the NBI said the arrest occurred around 6 p.m. on Thursday at a hotel in Pasay City following the case referral from the United States Homeland Security Investigations.
