UK Speaker is the Inside Man! - Mandelson deemed 'flight risk' after Hoyle tipped off police 'in good faith'

"House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle - chair of the London Parliament and, supposedly, above politics - sensationally admitted passing information to police 'in good faith' regarding Lord Mandelson before the former US ambassador was arrested earlier this week. "To prevent any inaccurate speculation, I’d like to confirm that upon receipt of information, I felt it was relevant I pass this on to the Metropolitan police in good faith, as is my duty and responsibility," he told MPs on Wednesday. "It is regrettable this rapidly ended in the media as this is a live investigation. Members will understand that it would be would not be appropriate to make any further comment. And I'd like to caution members from doing so." Later, the Metropolitan Police reportedly apologised to Hoyle for sharing his information with Mandelson's lawyers - which was said to be reports that the former ambassador might flee to the British Virgin Islands. Media outlets suggested Hoyle received the tip off from an 'authority' figure in the British overseas territory. Mandelson was arrested on Monday on claims of 'misconduct in public office' related to allegedly sharing information with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, while UK trade secretary. He denies wrongdoing related to that - and that he might've been a flight risk."
