Govt survives motion of no-confidence over unemployment situation

The four-party alliance right-wing government led by Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party-NCP) on Wednesday survived a no-confidence motion brought against it in the parliament by two opposition parties over the high unemployment rate in the country. The government won the motion by 96 votes to 76 with 27 lawmakers remaining absent. Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland) and Liike Nyt (Movement Now) filed the interpellation on February 10 asking the government to explain the reasons behind the increasing number of unemployment rate in Finland, which is the worst unemployment in Europe. Leaders of the opposition parties also held the government responsible for its failure to tackle the record unemployment rate in the country during its regime. The government replied to the interpellation in the plenary session on Tuesday and the Parliament on Wednesday held vote on the motion after holding debate.
