PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi has directed the inclusion of the electric bus project for public transport on Peshawar Ring Road in the forthcoming Annual Development Programme (ADP). He issued these directives while presiding over a consultative meeting of parliamentarians from Peshawar Region at Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Senators, Members of the National Assembly and Members of the Provincial Assembly representing the Peshawar Region. The meeting also approved the feasibility study for a second Ring Road as a strategic initiative to address the city’s increasing traffic pressures. The meeting reviewed development priorities for the Peshawar Region in the context of the Provincial Annual Development Programme 2026 27 and held detailed consultations on proposed interventions and priority sectors. The meeting approved inclusion of a new general hospital for Peshawar in the forthcoming Annual Development Programme, with the project to be executed on a fast track basis to meet the growing healthcare requirements of the provincial capital. The chief minister directed the parliamentarians to submit proposals for constituency-based development schemes to the Chief Minister Secretariat by March 15 for consideration in the forthcoming Annual Development Programme. He emphasised that project proposals should be guided primarily by public need and demonstrable development impact. The chief minister reiterated that the forthcoming Annual Development Programme will be structured in line with the province’s overall development requirements and prevailing ground realities. He underscored that timely and quality completion of ongoing schemes will remain a central priority in order to ensure early realization of development benefits for the public. Emphasising a citizen centered approach, the chief minister stated that the new development programme will be formulated on realistic parameters, aligned with broader public needs and aimed at promoting balanced and sustainable development across the province.
