TACLOBAN CITY—A 67-year-old farmer and his carabao were electrocuted Wednesday morning in a rice field in Barangay Bantigue, Ormoc City, authorities said. Police identified the victim only by his alias, “Turning,” a married farmer and resident of Sitio Laray, Barangay Borok, also in the same city. According to a police report, authorities received information about the incident at 12:20 p.m. Responding officers proceeded to Purok 6 in Barangay Bantigue, nearly a kilometer from the highway.
