"Hundreds of protesters marched through central Sofia on Wednesday demanding the immediate removal of Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov, whom opposition leaders accused of protecting organised crime and undermining Bulgaria's justice system. Footage shows demonstrators gathering in front of the Palace of Justice before marching to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), carrying banners reading 'Justice for all' and chanting: 'We do not want criminals to run judiciary' and 'Sarafov out!' "This man is an impostor who has taken up residence in the chief prosecutor's office and needs to go out! Because he has spread an umbrella over the mafia, he punishes normal people, and there is no justice in Bulgaria because of him," said Asen Vasilev, We continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) party co-leader. The action was organised in support of a motion by the new Minister of Justice, Andrey Yankulov, who called for Sarafov's removal. "Elections are coming. And real fair elections cannot be held with this Prosecutor General. This man is known in the prosecutor's office by the nickname 'The Chikatilo'. The 'Chikatilo' is standing up there in the office; he has occupied it and won't let go," said Ivalo Mirchev, PP-DB co-chair. Protesters announced they would continue their actions on Thursday morning in front of the SJC building to monitor the council's session on Sarafov's future."
