'We've seen evidence' - Vance says Iran trying to rebuild nuke, US has 'other options' ahead of Geneva talks

"US Vice President JD Vance said Washington has seen evidence of Tehran attempting to rebuild a nuclear weapon, after the US attacked three of Iran’s nuclear facilities in June last year. “The principle is very simple. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. If they try to rebuild the nuclear weapon, that causes problems for us,” Vance said on Wednesday. “We've seen evidence that they have tried to do exactly that, so the president is sending those negotiators to try to address that problem,” he added. Vance said the US president wants to address the issue diplomatically, while stressing that ‘other options’ exists should the talks fail. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also accused Iran of 'posing a threat' due to its stocks of ballistic missiles. The remarks come as Iran and the United States prepare to hold a third round of indirect talks in Geneva aimed at limiting Tehran’s nuclear capabilities. Iran’s foreign minister is leading the delegation, while US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff will represent Washington. Separately, Vance also announced a temporary freeze on ‘certain amounts’ of Medicaid funding for Minnesota over fraud concerns, as part of the administration’s 'aggressive' crackdown on misuse of public funds. “We have decided to temporarily halt certain amounts of Medicaid funding that are going to the state of Minnesota in order to ensure that the state of Minnesota takes its obligations seriously to be good stewards of the American people's tax money,” he said. On Tuesday, Trump declared a national ‘war on fraud' and appointed Vance as lead of a new anti-fraud task force."
