"Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with his Omani counterpart, Badr Al Busaidi, in Geneva on Wednesday evening ahead of a new round of indirect talks with the US. Footage released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry shows the two ministers speaking with officials present. The IRNA reported that the meeting aimed to outline "Iran’s positions and perspectives regarding sanctions relief and the nuclear file." Earlier, Araghchi stated that Iran would resume talks with the US "determined to achieve a fair and just agreement as soon as possible," in a post on X. On the eve of the talks, US Vice President JD Vance claimed that Tehran is attempting to rebuild a nuclear weapon. Tehran has repeatedly insisted that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes. The latest round of talks on Thursday is set to follow two earlier meetings held in Muscat and Geneva over the past two weeks, which both sides described as 'positive'. The negotiations are occurring amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, as US President Donald Trump has threatened military action against Iran and deployed substantial forces to the region. US special envoy Steve Witkoff and US President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, are expected to represent Washington."
