Seoul to continue diplomatic cooperation with US for prompt US-NK dialogue

South Korea will continue diplomatic cooperation with the United States to facilitate prompt dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang, an official said Thursday, after North Korea kept the door open for talks with the U.S. Foreign ministry spokesperson Park Il made the remarks after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was reported to have said that the country has no reason not to get along with the U.S. if its hostile policy is dropped, during a recent party congress. "Under close cooperation between South Korea and the U.S., the government will continue necessary diplomatic efforts to ensure North Korea-U.S. dialogue takes place as promptly as possible," Park said. Park said that the government will maintain its goal of achieving the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, while also pledging to cooperate with the international community to make tangible progress on the North Korean nuclear issue. The foreign ministry official reaffirmed the government's ongoing efforts to pursue peaceful coexistence and mutual prosperity with North Korea.
