Firefighters rush as blaze at textile factory sends column of smoke over Santiago

"A large fire at a textile factory broke out on Thursday morning in the district of Independencia, in Santiago de Chile, forcing the deployment of at least 15 fire brigades. Footage filmed shows the dense column of smoke caused by the fire, while emergency teams worked in the area. Private homes next to the textile factory were evacuated to prevent risks. According to local media, citing authorities from the Santiago Fire Department, in the incident one worker was reported injured with early signs of asphyxiation, but is now in good health. The fire is currently under control, however authorities warned that a "total closure" of traffic remains in place on Avenida Domingo Santa Maria to the east and west of the Independencia district, according to the latest report from the government platform."
