"Spokesperson for Prime Minister's Office, Gergely Gulyas, from Bratislava on Thursday, said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky might be facing a conundrum of settling conflict on his country's territory because it will make presidential election inevitable. "I believe that a swift peace is in Ukraine's best interest. It can be debated whether this is also in the Ukrainian President's interest, but I think for this government because due to the war President Zelensky's mandate has been extended and if there were no war a presidential election would have had to be held in Ukraine," Gulyas said. Reiterating the issue of the Druzhba (Friendship) oil pipeline restarting, Hungarian Prime Minister's Office spokesperson claimed there was 'no technical obstacle' meddling in the process, and accused Kiev of halting its operations. "Ukraine is not only making a political decision, but is also clearly violating its legal obligation undertaken in the association agreements with the European Union," Gulyas said. "Ukrainians have made a political decision that endangers Hungarian energy security, but they are openly violating their own contractual commitments as they should be ensuring energy supply," he added. Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Viktor Orban warned that Budapest will use military force to protect critical energy infrastructure, as no crude oil has been delivered into the country since January 27. On the same day, an emergency Oil Coordination Group meeting was convened after Hungary and Slovakia halted diesel supplies to Ukraine. In turn, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen urged Zelensky to 'accelerate' repairs. Hungary and Slovakia have accused Ukraine of deliberately halting oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline from Russia for political reasons, while Kiev claims the line was damaged by a 'Russian attack'."
