End of the day - American motorcade leaves after negotiations with Iran in Geneva

"The US motorcade was seen departing in Geneva following indirect talks with the Iranians on Thursday. The Omani foreign minister, whose side was mediating, stated: "We have finished the day after significant progress in the negotiation between the United States and Iran." "We will resume soon after consultation in the respective capitals. Discussions on a technical level will take place next week in Vienna. I am grateful to all concerned for their efforts: the negotiators, the IAEA, and our hosts the Swiss government," he added. It marked the third round of the latest negotiations. The second round was also held in Geneva, with the first in Oman. Iran has repeatedly insisted its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes.  It comes amid a huge US military buildup in the Middle East, amid reports that Trump could still be set to launch strikes on Iran. He appeared to step back from the brink last month. Tehran accused Trump of escalating and inflaming economic protests in the country in December and January, after he called on people to 'keep protesting' and said 'help is on the way'. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei claimed some rioters were doing it to 'please' the US leader. "
