Government Approves Payment of Salary Arrears for Nurses and Midwives The Ministry of Health has announced the approval of a structured payment plan to settle salary arrears owed to nurses and midwives posted in the 2024/2025 service year. In a press release signed by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Tony Goodman, the Ministry disclosed that negotiations with the Ministry of Finance have been successfully concluded, paving the way for the arrears to be paid in four instalments from April to July. According to the statement, the approved payment schedule will span four months, with two months of arrears to be paid in April, three months in May, three months in June, and the remaining three months in July. The Ministry described the arrangement as a responsible and structured approach to clearing all outstanding obligations within a defined timeline. “This structured payment plan reflects government’s commitment to ensuring that all outstanding obligations are cleared in a timely and responsible manner,” the statement noted. The Ministry of Health commended nurses and midwives for their patience, dedication and continued service to the nation despite the delays in payment. It also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Finance for the urgency and priority given to the matter. Government, the statement added, remains committed to the welfare and motivation of health workers across the country as part of efforts to strengthen the healthcare delivery system.
