"The aftermath of reported Afghan attacks on the Pakistan border were seen on Friday, in the Bara Laggari Mamund village of Bajaur district, following cross-border attacks from both sides. "We had finished our night prayers and Taraweeh; people had just left the mosque," said Noor Ali, Muezzin. "There were two mortar shells, one here at the roof and the second one hit a nearby house behind the mosque. Another house was hit over there; a man named Darwaish was martyred in that." Footage shows damage to the local mosque and the hospital. "My son was hit last night, so I brought him here, but they don’t have proper treatment for his wounds. They asked me to take him to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar. You know, a sharp iron piece like a knife is stuck in his shoulder, so we need to remove that by operation," explained Muhammad Anwar Khan. At time of publication, the Pakistan army alleged 274 'Taliban fighters' had been killed - and 12 Pakistani soldiers. Afghanistan’s defence ministry said that 55 Pakistani soldiers had been killed, along with eight Afghan soldiers. It comes after months of tensions, with both sides trading cross-border fire. Afghanistan launched what it called a 'major offensive' on Pakistan military posts near the border on Thursday, which the Taliban government said was a response to deadly airstrikes earlier this month. Pakistan, which said those earlier attacks were on 'militants' who were being 'suicide attacks', carried out airstrikes on the capital Kabul and two other provinces over Thursday night and into Friday. Pakistan also claims that Kabul harbours Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants, which the Taliban government strongly denies."
