LTFRB suspends 3 ride-hailing firms

(UPDATE) THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has suspended the operations of three transport network companies (TNCs) for one year over violations of their franchise conditions. LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II said the suspension order was issued after the companies failed to respond to show cause orders (SCOs) for noncompliance with rules governing ride-hailing services. The suspended firms were Leggo Information Technology Solutions, Get Express Global Corporation, and Ipara Technology and Solutions Inc. Mendoza said the companies were cited for the absence of active, internet-based digital technology required to support their partners and clients — an essential component of ride-hailing operations. “They were given all the chance to respond and explain the violations they committed but they failed to do so. This is what happens when you ignore or disregard legal notices from the LTFRB — you will suffer the consequences of your action,” Mendoza said. The LTFRB advised commuters and prospective ride-hailing applicants to refrain from transacting with the three companies while the suspension remains in effect. The board said advisories have been issued to inform the public of the decision and urged them to verify the status of service providers before engaging their services. Mendoza also reminded all TNCs and their partners to strictly comply with LTFRB rules and regulations to ensure smooth and lawful operations.
