THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) stepped up security measures at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) in preparation for the Holy Week travel rush. MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III personally led the security audit at key facilities, including a capsule hotel and the LRT-PITX station, on Friday. He inspected provincial buses and their drivers, as well as the terminal’s command center. Torre commended PITX’s facilities, likening their security infrastructure to those found in airports. During the inspection, PITX security personnel presented confiscated prohibited items from passengers, including box cutters, scissors and knives, as well as flammable butane canisters and other hazardous materials. The inspection was implemented in coordination with the Department of Transportation.
