A 'MAGA Bachelor'? Chris Harrison to host Fox Nation dating show

Most people turn to reality TV for escapist entertainment — the kind of drama you only get when you put fame-hungry contestants with giant personalities into a room together. But apparently Fox News viewers want to watch women become trad wives . Former Bachelor franchise host Chris Harrison is making his return to reality TV after his controversial exit with a new conservative dating show on the Fox News streaming service Fox Nation. The upcoming dating reality show will focus on contestants seeking a “traditional marriage,” with Harrison acting as host. This comes five years after Harrison was exiled from Bachelor Nation for defending a contestant accused of being racist toward Rachel Lindsay, the first Black Bachelorette. As reported by Variety , the official synopsis for the series reads, “Several women will embark on a relationship journey designed for individuals seeking lasting commitment. Blending romance, real-world compatibility tests and emotionally charged eliminations, the series reimagines modern dating through the lens of shared values, authenticity and the goal of marriage.” Earlier this month, Harrison posted a casting call for the show, looking for single men and women age 21 and older “who want a traditional, marriage-minded partnership built on commitment and shared values. We’re looking for singles who believe in clear roles, long-term commitment, and building a life together — and who are dating with real intention.” See on Instagram The casting call directs people to a website that provides more insight into the type of conservative marriage values the show will likely promote. Interested applicants must fill out a questionnaire that includes a question about what their “ideal marriage looks like,” with examples such as “a provider husband and a stay-at-home wife; the wife managing the home/finances/childcare; faith-based leadership in the home.” Many in the comments section under Harrison’s Instagram post announcing the gig sounded off on how the show comes off as regressive. “Huhhhhh it’s giving 1920s,” one person wrote, while another asked, “MAGA Bachelor?” And someone else commented, “I thought this was a joke until I read the comments. Handmaid’s Tale is my first thought.” The series is set to premiere sometime in 2027.
