ISLAMABAD: Security was placed on high alert due to a fresh wave of terrorism in the country in the federal capital on the second Friday of Ramadan to avert any untoward incident. Following the directives of high-ups, the police have implemented extensive measures in the city to ensure public safety during Friday prayers. Heavy contingents of police were deployed at key locations across the city, including Red Zone, as well as at mosques and Imambargahs. Additional police personnel were deployed at places of worship, markets, and other public areas to maintain law and order. Senior police officers remain present in the field to personally oversee security arrangements at sensitive locations. All patrolling units were mobilised to enhance vigilance around mosques, Imambargahs, and other important sites. Police also intensified checking and monitoring at all entry and exit points of the city. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has directed police to stay alert and carry out their responsibilities with utmost dedication. Police have also erected security pickets on different roads and continued random checking of vehicles. Commandoes of Islamabad police, lady police, mobile patrolling, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) were also deputed at different locations in the city.
