DMW tells Pinoys in Israel to monitor advisories, call hotline for help as Mideast tension rises

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) advised Filipinos working in Israel to follow the Philippine embassy in Tel Aviv regarding the security situation in their host country and surrounding countries. In a statement on Saturday, the DMW said it was monitoring the situation through the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Israel, in coordination with the Philippine embassy. Filipinos in Israel are advised to regularly monitor the news and official advisories of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Home Front Command for any changes in safety guidelines, as well as finding a nearby safe room or shelter in their area and enter it when they receive an urgent alert when sirens sound. Also, Filipinos are urged to stay “vigilant, alert, and avoid areas with potential danger.” “Everyone is also advised to follow the Embassy’s official WhatsApp channel to immediately receive safety advisories, verified updates, and other important information,” the DMW said in Filipino. Filipinos who may need assistance can contact the Philippine Embassy’s 24/7 hotline at +972 54 466 1188. “The DMW continues to coordinate with the Embassy to ensure the safety and welfare of our fellow Filipinos,” it said. “Everyone is advised to remain calm but always prepared,” the agency added. The advisory came following crossfire attacks among Israel, Iran, and the United States, that caused the closure of airspaces among several Middle Eastern countries.
