"Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban declared military protection for energy facilities across the country, alleging the threat from neighbouring Ukraine in his address to the nation from the town of Szazhalombatta - home to Hungary's largest oil refinery, on Saturday. "The Ukrainian oil blockade shows that President Zelensky will stop at nothing. Therefore, starting today, this refinery and other key energy facilities across the country are being jointly protected by soldiers and police officers," he said. "In a critical situation, the Hungarian people can rely on the Hungarian defence forces and the police." "Hungary will continue to resist President Zelensky's blackmail, and we will not retreat from our demand that oil deliveries through the Friendship (Druzhba) pipeline be restarted," Orban added. On Friday, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico accused Ukraine of lying about the state of the Druzhba pipeline, noting that Kiev can attempt to intentionally 'damage it today, tomorrow, or the day after, as they destroyed Nord Stream'. Both Hungary and Slovakia demanded that a joint committee be allowed to inspect the alleged damaged site. Hungary and Slovakia have accused Ukraine of deliberately halting oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline from Russia for political reasons - while Kiev claims the line was damaged by a 'Russian attack'. This week, the EU said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had urged Zelensky to 'accelerate' repairs. Hungary blocked the 20th package of sanctions on Russia this week - and said it would halt the latest 90 billion euro loan from the EU to Ukraine too - as the row escalated."
