Table for everyone - Charity iftar in Syria's Douma brings together 800 orphans and low-income families

"A charity iftar for 800 orphans, people with disabilities and low-income families was held on Friday in Douma, in the Damascus countryside. Footage shows attendees sitting at long tables to break the fast, while cooks prepared meals ahead of the gathering.   One of the event participants said the initiative 'sparks hope' and encourages donors to pay attention to poorer communities, adding that one of the simplest ways to help is by supporting iftar meals for those who are fasting.   Rahma Worldwide said the event was held in Damascus under the banner 'Rahma Iftar for 800 Orphans.' Similar initiatives would be held in other provinces in the coming days as part of efforts to expand humanitarian support. Rahma Worldwide, founded in 2014 and based in Michigan, runs relief and development projects in more than 18 countries, SANA said. Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar and considered one of the holiest months for Muslims. During Ramadan, fasting is observed from dawn until sunset, and it is one of the five pillars of Islam."
