Search and rescue underway for man swept off rocks at Karekare

A search and rescue operation is underway after a man was swept off the rocks at a West Auckland beach. Police said the man was fishing at Tāhoro/Union Bay at the northern end of Karekare Beach this morning when he was swept out to sea. A search and rescue effort involving police, Coastguard and Surf Lifesaving New Zealand was launched, however the man has not been found. Police said another search would be conducted this afternoon at low tide.
