Hot, humid weather expected over entire PH in 24 hours

MANILA, Philippines – The entire archipelago would be experiencing hot and humid weather due to the effects of the easterlies over the next 24 hours, the state-run weather agency said on Monday. Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said it has not monitored any low-pressure area forming inside or outside the country’s area of responsibility in the coming days. In particular, Aurelio said in a 5 a.m. briefing that Metro Manila and the rest of the country would likely have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterly winds passing through the Pacific Ocean. Flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms could be possible in these areas, the Pagasa forecaster warned. Meanwhile, Pagasa cited data and analysis indicating that the northeast monsoon, locally known as ‘amihan,’ would resurface possibly on Wednesday and affect most parts of Luzon. According to Pagasa, this weather system brings cool, dry wind from Siberia and China and flows over Southeast Asia normally from October to March.
