PH trails most Asean peers in global mobility ranking

MANILA, Philippines — For a country with millions of citizens working abroad, the Philippine passport remains a structural constraint, according to an analysis by University of the Philippines Diliman associate professor and Inquirer data scientist Dr. Rogelio Alicor Panao. Data from the 2026 Passport Index by global advisory firm Arton Capital show that the Philippines ranks 130th out of 199 countries, with a Mobility Score (MS) of 77. The score includes 39 visa-free destinations and 38 visa-on-arrival destinations. The ranking places the Philippines behind most of its Southeast Asian neighbors.
