'FIRA, you have blood on your hands!' - Activists picket MWC in Barcelona, call for boycott of Israel-linked firms amid new Middle East escalation

"Activists protested outside the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Monday, urging organisers to exclude companies they say have links to the Israeli military and arguing the tech fair is tied to wider debates about supply chains and conflict. Footage shows demonstrators chanting and banging pots and pans, holding banners reading 'Decolonise technology' and 'FIRA, you have blood on your hands,' as police and security watched over the rally. "There are 37 Israeli companies registered, nine of which have direct ties with the Israeli military. It is an absolute disgrace that nowadays there is still an Israeli stand allowed to be at the Mobile World Congress," said Alys Samson, a member of the Stop Complicity with Israel coalition. Claudia Bosch, project officer at Setem Catalunya, criticised the conflict in the Middle East and firms over their supply chains. "We are seeing that it is bombing neighbouring countries such as Iran, not respecting international law. And we are also denouncing that many companies inside the Mobile World Congress are also responsible for their value chains," she added. Around 30 Israeli participants had been expected at the event, which was set to draw about 109,000 visitors to view the latest technology and network innovations. The protest comes as US and Israel first attacked Iran on Saturday morning. Tehran said it was responding with strikes on Israel and US assets in the region, with strikes reported in countries right across the Gulf region.  On Sunday, Donald Trump confirmed that three US military personnel were dead and admitted that more deaths were 'likely' on the American side. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was confirmed killed in a strike on Saturday.  It comes after a number of rounds of talks between the Americans and Iranians in the preceding weeks."
