As the Austrian Armed Forces currently cannot provide a Hercules transport aircraft for evacuation from the Middle East, a dispute over responsibility has erupted. FPÖ General Secretary Hafenecker described this as a "scandal of the highest order." The ÖVP, on the other hand, blamed former FPÖ Defense Minister Kunasek for the condition of the fleet.
