'Out of an abundance of caution' - US embassy in Jordan evacuated as sirens blare over Amman amid fears of Iranian strikes

"The US embassy in Amman temporarily evacuated all its staff from the compound in Amman on Monday amid an unspecified 'threat'. Footage shows police blocking roads leading to the embassy as a large number of vehicles leave the area. Sirens can be heard going off in the background. “Out of an abundance of caution, all personnel at the US Embassy have temporarily departed the Embassy compound due to a threat,” the embassy said in a statement posted on X. The US and Israel launched joint strikes on Saturday, with US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to 'destroy Iran's missiles'. In response, Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps said that 'widespread missile and drone attacks' against Israel were underway. US bases were also reportedly targeted in the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq and Kuwait. The developments follow three recent rounds of talks between Iranian and American officials, one held in Muscat and two in Geneva."
