Marcos welcomes SKorean President Lee Jae Myung to Malacañang

MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on Tuesday afternoon welcomed South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and First Lady Kim Hea Kyung to Malacañang who arrived in Manila for a two-day State Visit. Marcos, members of his Cabinet, and other officials accorded them arrival honors in the Palace. Marcos and Lee are scheduled to have a bilateral meeting, followed by the presentation of signed agreements and their joint press conference. It is the first visit of a Korean leader to the country since the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries came into effect on December 2024 and also coinciding with the 77th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippine and South Korean in March 1949. This is the first face-to-face meeting between Marcos and Lee since they last met at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Gyeongju, South Korea last November.
